Digital Preservation Policy

Land, Crops & Environment assigns a persistent DOI (Digital Object Identifier), managed through Crossref, to every published article. This guarantees its unique and permanent identification, preventing any issues with locating the content even if the URL or website structure changes.

PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

Land, Crops & Environment participates in the PKP Preservation Network, which provides free digital preservation services for journals using Open Journal Systems (OJS) that meet the necessary technical requirements. The content archived in this network is preserved through systems such as LOCKSS and CLOCKSS, ensuring its long-term integrity and availability.

LOCKSS and CLOCKSS

The OJS platform hosting our journal is compatible with LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), a software developed by Stanford University that allows libraries to preserve digital copies of journals. LOCKSS continuously verifies files across participating libraries, enabling the restoration of lost or corrupted content.

Likewise, through integration with CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS), a secure and decentralized backup is guaranteed, meeting international standards for digital archiving.

In this way, the articles published in Land, Crops & Environment are digitally preserved to ensure their future availability, even in the event of technical failures or structural changes to the website.
