Author Guidelines

Types of Manuscripts Accepted
    • Original scientific articles 
    • Literature reviews 
    • Scientific notes

    • Validated protocols or methodologies 

General Submission Criteria
Before submitting a manuscript, authors must consider the following:
    • The work must be original, unpublished, and not under review by another journal. 
    • All authors must approve the submission. 
    • Necessary permissions must be obtained for the use of third-party figures, maps, photographs, or data. 
    • For studies requiring ethical oversight, approval from an ethics committee must be attached. 
    • The manuscript file must strictly follow the journal’s official template, available in Word format (.docx). 

Editorial Process and Peer Review
    • Initial editorial review: The Editorial Committee evaluates relevance, originality, and formal compliance.
    • Peer review: Manuscripts that pass the initial review will be evaluated by two experts under the double-blind system.
    • Possible editorial decisions:
        ◦ Accepted without changes 
        ◦ Accepted with minor corrections (deadline: 15 days) 
        ◦ Major revision (deadline: 30 days, with possibility of a second round) 
        ◦ Rejected with comments 
Note: If authors do not submit the revised version within the established deadlines, the manuscript will be treated as a new submission.

Manuscript Structure
    • Title (clear and concise) 
    • Authors (full name, affiliation, email, ORCID) 
    • Abstract (max. 250 words) 
    • Keywords (4 to 6) 
    • Introduction 
    • Materials and Methods 
    • Results 
    • Discussion 
    • Conclusions 
    • Author Contributions
    • Acknowledgments (optional) 
    • References (APA 7th edition format) 

Tables and Figures
    • Number in order of appearance in the text. 
    • Tables: Title above, clear legends. 
    • Figures: Title below, high resolution (minimum 300 dpi in final version). 
    • Maps: Scale, north arrow, coordinates, minimum resolution 300 dpi. 
    • Submit each figure or image as a separate file (.tif, .jpg, or .bmp). 

Writing Style
    • Clear, precise, and unambiguous writing. 
    • Short sentences and scientific language. 
    • Use the International System of Units (SI). 
Numbers:
    • Write numbers 1 to 10 in words when not accompanied by a unit (e.g., three plots). 
    • Use numerals when followed by a unit (e.g., 4 kg, 5 m). 
Dates: day month year (e.g., 12 May 2025).
Latin words: in italics (e.g., in vitro).
Acronyms: define at first use (e.g., Integrated Pest Management (IPM)).

Author Contributions
Land, Crops & Environment adopts international authorship criteria based on substantial contributions to scientific work. All authors must have made significant contributions to the development of the manuscript and approved its final version.

Each author’s individual contribution must be described using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) system. For more information, see: https://credit.niso.org/

The inclusion of authors without a real contribution or the omission of relevant contributors is considered an unethical practice.

Example: García, J.: conceptualization, methodology, and writing—original draft; Pérez, M.: formal analysis, data curation, and writing—review and editing; López, A.: supervision, validation, and final editing.

Declaration of Originality and Publication License
By submitting a manuscript to Land, Crops & Environment, authors acknowledge that:
    • The manuscript is original and unpublished. 
    • It has not been submitted simultaneously to another journal. 
    • All authors have approved the submitted version. 
    • There are no conflicts of interest. 
    • Authors retain their copyright. 
    • Authors grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute, and archive the manuscript. 
    • The article will be published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). 
    • Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions for any third-party copyrighted material included in the manuscript. 
Note: This declaration is accepted automatically through the OJS system during submission; no additional letter is required.

Manuscript Submission
Manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the journal’s OJS platform.
The submission must include:
    • Word file (.docx) 
    • Figures as individual files (.tif or .jpg)
    • Tables embedded or provided in .xls
